Tiger Takedown:     Aztec Wrestling Newsletter #9          2018-2019                                            2/4/2019

With three more days of solid wrestling behind us, we edge to the end of the season. Travel outside of the state has ended and concentration of qualifying for State and the State Tournament loom in front of us.  We were able to make some history on Friday and Saturday. First, on Thursday we traveled to Shiprock to wrestle 3 District Duals. We came away with 3 wins and a combined score of 228-12; including two shutouts.  On Friday, for the first time we held a dual event in the Multi-Purpose Room.  A packed crowd witnessed us decisively beat top ranked Cedaredge, CO 57-18.  On Saturday, sights were set on the 45th Butch Melton Invitational in Ignacio, CO. It has been over 20 years since an Aztec wrestling team has won the oldest area tournament. When it was over, we had 4 Champions and won the Tournament Championship by a landside 45.5 points.
