Tiger Takedown 2017-18 #5

Tiger Takedown: Aztec Wrestling Newsletter #5 2017-18 1/1/2018

It is amazing to watch a young wrestling team go through a transformation. It happened in Upland, California during the 49th annual Black Watch Imitational Tournament. By transformation, we witnessed some of the best team wrestling by an Aztec Team in years. We outscored 62 other teams by 63.5 points and 9 Tigers placed, while the others scored towards the Championship. Senior Josiah Griego was awarded light weight Outstanding Wrestler along the way. On day 3, Bella Wells defended her 106# title, beating California 5th in state Justine Barredo of Walnut HS 6-5 in the semis and pinning Maya Souza of El Monte HS in the finals. This was all accomplished after ridding the Amtrak train all night; arriving just in time to weigh in and start. Along the way we received accolades for our politeness and tough wrestling.
