Aztec Wrestling Nation Newsletter #5 2021-2022 1/10/2022
The big news was the loss of 15 Varsity wrestlers to a ridiculous contact tracing after the Las Vegas trip. We still wanted to honor our dual with Monticello High School in Utah and that created a challenge for us. A line up was set and revised several times, using a majority of Junior Varsity and C team wrestlers. Then after a final revamp, a line up boarded the bus with 14 wrestlers and the journey to Monticello began. After a courageous and hard fought battle, the score was tied at 42 apiece. After checking, the tie breaker went Aztec’s way, due to the fact that Aztec had 2 forfeits to Monticello’s 3, securing us the win. It was good to find out that the program can depend on its younger and less experienced wrestlers to get the job done.
The weekend wrestling for the girls and boys varsity teams was canceled. The JV competed at the Bronco JV duals on Saturday.
