Aztec Wrestling Nation Newsletter #6 2021 5/16/2021

The ups and downs of this Corona season goes on and on, but the regular season is finally over. Friday was

the 39th Annual High Desert Community Credit Union Tiger Duals. Although somewhat smaller, and held

outdoors at Fred Cook Memorial Stadium, it showcased plenty of great wrestling and tons of action. Three

mats were place in a row on the football field and the center mat was for the 3rd Annual Lady Tigers

Scramble. Four teams battled each other in dual action, while eight girl teams battled for weight class

dominancy and medals.

In the dual versus Farmington, who is the 2nd ranked 5-A team in New Mexico, we once again sported a

team with 4 forfeits, giving up 24 points. The good news is we went on to win 7 of the 10 matches wrestled.

Unlike last week, where everything went wrong, we managed to pull together and wrestle to our abilities.

A revived and more confident Aztec team will head into the State Qualifier next Saturday.
