It’s amazing, just eight weeks ago we started this COVID season and now it is in the history books.
On Thursday, they boys proved once again we are one of the premier wrestling programs in New Mexico, year in and year out. They outscored 21 other 4-A teams to win the State Championship for the 4th straight year and now Aztec has 20 State Championship trophies in its room. Twelve out of 13 Aztec wrestlers brought home a state medal, while all 13 scored points towards the 40-point win over the second-place teams. Four Aztec wrestlers were individual State Champions and 8 state placing wrestlers will return to form next year’s team. We say goodbye to five seniors who have been there for the 4-year State Championship run. Our girls, under the power of only three wrestlers, scored enough points to bring home yet another State trophy. Green is the color this year but it was better than 31 other schools.
